Abstract

The recent advancements in power semiconductor devices and optimization techniques have contributed to dramatic improvement on the conversion efficiency and power density of power electronic circuits and systems, leading to remarkable reduction in manufacturing cost. The new distributed and hybrid power systems have largely replaced the conventional ones of centralized structure. This paper presents a review of state-of-the-art bus converters which serve as key components within the modern intermediate bus architecture (IBA). The discussion and comparison of existing topologies and the performances from a varieties of commercial products and latest research works are covered in details. Moreover, the trend of emerging technologies and design of IBCs are also projected and discussed.
