Abstract
As the world approaches the WHO deadline of 2030 for eliminating cervical cancer, momentum is building. On May 23, 2025, the 78th World Health Assembly adopted a resolution designating Nov 17 as annual World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day,1 a landmark moment reinvigorating global and regional political will. Nowhere is this commitment more urgent than in Africa, which has the world's highest rate of cervical cancer. Annually, 76 745 African women die from this preventable disease, with age-standardised mortality rates nearly triple the global average.
