Abstract

We establish Arrdc2 as a novel mechanosensitive gene highly induced in response to mechanical unloading, particularly in aged muscle. Arrdc2 induction in C2C12 myotubes is sufficient to produce thinner myotubes and a transcriptional landscape consistent with muscle atrophy and disuse.
