Abstract

This paper progressed in relation to literature by comparing three methods of Ni/Al2O3 deposition on cordierite monoliths, characterized and evaluated in methane steam reforming. The citrate method presented strong adherence of a uniform catalyst layer but exhibited only 7% of methane conversion at 800 °C and H2O/CH4 = 3. In contrast, Ni/Al2O3 co-precipitated deposition exhibited 99% of methane conversion but the lowest adherence. At least, Al2O3 coating followed by NiO wet impregnation showed strong adherence of the catalyst layer and high activity (98% conversion), attributed to nickel availability on the cordierite surface, proving to be the most efficient and suitable deposition method.
