Abstract

This study investigates the vibration power flow transmission behavior of laminated composite plates with a cutout and a variable angle tow (VAT) design. The steady-state response of the harmonically excited plate is determined. The power flow density vectors (PLDV) are used to show the vibration transmission paths. The effects of the VAT design parameters on the dominant power flow paths within the plate are explored. It shows that the forced vibration responses and vibration energy transfer within the structure can be tailored with fiber layer scheme. The findings benefit enhanced vibration suppression of composite plates with a cutout.
