Enhancement of second-order vortex harmonics in polar molecular media

Abstract
Abstract The propagation of a few-cycle Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) beam through polar molecular media as well as the accompanied harmonic radiation is theoretically investigated under the condition of two-photon resonance. The results show that a second-order harmonic vortex harmonic occurs due to the inversion symmetry breaking of polar media, which is obviously enhanced during nonlinear propagation as a consequence of long-tail-generation. In addition, the LG 20 -like field distribution in the transverse plane perpendicular to the propagation direction is sensitively dependent on the carrier–envelope phase of the incident few-cycle LG beam.
