Abstract
Abstract Polypyrrole (PPy) has been the subject of extensive research recently as a supercapacitive material due to its high theoretical capacitance, low cost, facile synthesis, and abundance in nature. However, the low cyclic stability of PPy alone as an electrode material is a drawback for energy storage application. For supercapacitors (SCs), composite materials based on PPy have been developed to improve their electrochemical performance. This review summarizes some recent developments in the field of hybrid composite materials based on PPy for SCs. Additionally, certain recommendations are made about the advancement of large‒scale synthesis techniques and further enhancing PPy‒based materials for practical utility in energy storage devices.
