Integrated access and backhaul a New Type of Wireless Backhaul in 5G

Abstract
The combination of millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum - which is becoming available globally for 5G - with other spectrum assets below 6GHz results in high speeds and capacities. The mmWave radio resources can only provide limited coverage, though, which makes it reasonable to expect a fairly low level of utilization. As a result, there is an opportunity to use an innovative type of wireless backhaul in 5G - integrated access and backhaul (IAB) - to densify networks with multi-band radio sites at street level.
