Abstract
We review the physical properties of crystalline LiRF4 (R = Y, Gd–Lu) hosts and analyze progress in the application of rare-earth-activated LiRF4 crystals in quantum electronics. Particular attention is paid to recent advances in lasing in the ultraviolet and visible spectral regions. In addition, we mention some applications of these crystals in other areas of photonics, science, and technology.
