Abstract

This paper describes electromagnetic modeling and experimental investigation of the symmetrically fed log-periodic dipole antenna (LPDA) array. The array consists of two conventional LPDAs combined in H-plane to achieve symmetric radiation pattern suited for illuminating parabolic reflector antenna. The LPDA array feed is designed for 1-10 GHz bandwidth. The VSWR of the LPDA array feed remain below 2.0 for both stand along and when used as a feed for reflector antenna. Radiation patterns and gain of the 1.65 meters diameter reflector antenna fed by suggested LPDA array are experimentally measured and agree with simulations.
