Abstract
MXene are currently seeing significant growth as a novel group of multifunctional nanomaterials that possess potential applications in separation applications. The present study presents a comprehensive analysis of the performance evaluation of pressure-driven membranes modified with MXene materials. We first outlined the steps of MXene preparation, emphasizing exfoliation, as these are important elements in the process of membrane manufacturing. After that, different types of MXene-based membranes were discussed. The performance of different pressure-driven mixed matrix and amended membranes for water treatment applications was discussed highlighting the best practices. The challenges and opportunities accompanying MXene integration into membranes were addressed.
