d 2 Re( v ) carbyne complexes Re(CR)Cl 2 (PMePh 2 ) 3 , can undergo stoichiometric metathesis with a range of terminal aryl and aliphatic alkynes (HCCR′), yielding substituted carbyne complexes Re(CR′)Cl 2 (PMePh 2 ) 3 and HCCR.
