Abstract
he objective of the research was to determine urinary tract infections and their complications in \npregnancy in patients who attend the IESS Portoviejo hospital. The most common bacterial \ninfections in the urinary tract in pregnant women are asymptomatic bacteriuria, pyelonephritis, \nand cystitis, among others. It is very common worldwide, but especially in developing \ncountries. This type of infection causes complications in pregnancy that can even affect the \nproduct. A review of medical records was carried out on 100 women who went to the IESS \nhospital in Portoviejo for gynecological medical assistance. Being able to find Escherichia coli, \nKlebsiella pneumoniae, among others, in urine cultures. They presented complications such as \npreterm pregnancy, beginning of abortion. Many of the pregnant women did not know about \nSUT. They presented asymptomatic cystitis, acute pyelonephritis.
