Abstract

One-step synthesis of β-carboxyl ketones from α,β-unsaturated ketones using CO2 as a feedstock by photoelectro-synergetic catalysis is reported herein. In this ambient system, silica nanowires (SiNWs) electrode not only acts as the working electrode but also harvests extra light energy to promote the reaction. Following a possible two-step single-electron-transfer process, various substrates exhibit good efficiency with up to 98% product yield, and the method shows wide functional group tolerance.
