Abstract

The paper presents a framework that realistically simulates a microgrid and forecasts renewable energy and load demand. Electricity spot prices are also forecasted and used by the scheduler to optimize the total microgrid cost per day. The energy storage and conventional supplies are coherently scheduled to meet the demand. Forecasting models described here give an excellent insight to choose the appropriate architecture to safeguard grid stability, smooth scheduling, and energy management. Finally, the results help in a better understanding of the functioning of the smart grid system.
