Abstract

We compute the differential cross section for inclusive <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:msup> <a:mi mathvariant="normal">D</a:mi> <a:mn>0</a:mn> </a:msup> </a:math> production in ultraperipheral collisions within the color glass condensate framework. Our predictions are found to be in relatively good agreement with the compact muon solenoid data at small transverse momentum, which is the region of validity of our approach. Furthermore, we quantify saturation effects by a nuclear modification ratio <d:math xmlns:d="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <d:msub> <d:mi>R</d:mi> <d:mrow> <d:mi>p</d:mi> <d:mi>A</d:mi> </d:mrow> </d:msub> </d:math> for <f:math xmlns:f="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <f:msup> <f:mi mathvariant="normal">D</f:mi> <f:mn>0</f:mn> </f:msup> </f:math> photoproduction and examine both analytically and numerically the collinear factorization limit of the <i:math xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <i:msup> <i:mi mathvariant="normal">D</i:mi> <i:mn>0</i:mn> </i:msup> </i:math> differential photoproduction cross section.
