Abstract

In this work, we report a series of stretching-dominated plate-based mechanical metamaterials to simultaneously achieve vibration insulation and energy absorption. The performances of vibration insulation and energy absorption of these mechanical metamaterials are synthetically compared. The optimal mechanical metamaterial, namely S8, is extracted from all relevant mechanical metamaterials by the complex proportional assessment (COPRAS) method. Additionally, parametric studies of the S8 are performed to reveal the effect of structural parameters on the performances of vibration insulation and energy absorption. Finally, multi-objective optimization of the S8 is implemented to obtain the Pareto front. Findings from this work can provide effective guidance for the design of mechanical metamaterials with simultaneous vibration insulation and energy absorption.
