Abstract

In general, the mathematical communication skills of students in Indonesia are still relatively low, this is indicated by the number of students who still have difficulty in working on problems in the form of images, graphs, and others. One of the factors that affect the ability of mathematical communication shiva is the independence of learning. This research aims to find out the mathematical communication skills on cube and beam materials based on learning independence. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research. The subjects in the study were class IX students of the 2020/2021 school year who were at OMA Indah Housing, which amounted to 3 people using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection techniques used are learning independence questionnaires, communication skills tests, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that students with high independence had better mathematical communication skills than students with moderate and low independence. In addition, students with moderate independence have better mathematical communication skills than students with low independence.
