A New Normal in Radiology Resident Education: Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic

of Colombia.Diagnostic imaging is a broad field of medicine and one of the most rapidly advancing with technological development, therefore it is of utmost importance that undergraduate students and future physicians know the history, indications and findings of imaging studies.The Department of Diagnostic Imaging understands this need and is committed to structure an undergraduate program to achieve these objectives by structuring two subjects: Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging to be taught in VI and VII semester respectively; also assigns a resident of the specialty to support and accompany teachers and students during the development of the subjects, being in charge of conducting evaluations, updating study material and question banks, collecting grades and dictating some classes.The course of Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging has been based on a blended learning system that has proven to be effective and allowed an adequate coupling during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic with a transition to fully virtual education.After the end of the pandemic, students were surveyed about communication, academic activities, methodology, learning and impact of the pandemic.The results showed that there was a good perception and acceptance, and it was concluded that despite the difficulties, the development of the course with a totally virtual methodology was successfully carried out.
