Progress in the study of the spider fauna (Aranei) of Russia and neighbouring regions: a 2020 update

Abstract

calculations of spider species richness in the boundaries of Russia and the former Soviet Union republics, as well as between physiographical regions of these territories, are provided in comparison with earlier data. By December 31st, 2020, 3,529 and 2,497 spider species were reported from the FSU republics and Russia, respectively. A prediction for spider richness of the FSU and Russia is given. Additionally, 39 spider species lists of both the post-Soviet republics and physiographical regions are provided as electronic supplementary data.
