Abstract
Substance use disorder (SUD) remains a major medical challenge[1]. Neurocircuitry studies and positive outcomes with nucleus accumbens (NAc) deep brain stimulation in patients with severe SUD highlight the NAc’s central role in the brain’s reward pathway, supporting its potential as a neuromodulation target for addiction treatment [1, 2].
