Research progress and prospects of colored zirconia ceramics: A review

Abstract
Colored zirconia ceramics have been widely used in intelligent terminal, dental restoration, colored decorations and other potential fields due to their rich color, excellent mechanical properties and favorable biocompatibility. This paper starts with the challenges faced by colored zirconia ceramics, followed by a summary of the application market of colored zirconia ceramics. Herein, we review various types of colorants and their mechanism of color development, summarize coloring methods and analyze their advantages and disadvantages, respectively. Finally, the research progress of zirconia ceramics in red, blue, black and other common colors is summarized, and the future development directions is put forward in this review.
