Abstract

Mechanical damage caused by construction, theft and transformation, has caused a long-term threat to the safe operation of cables. Owing to the complexity of cable distribution and operating environment, it seems impossible to apply traditional online monitoring systems with active alarms to power cable systems, especially considering the high cost of conversion and maintenance. In this paper, an integrated smart sensors based on MEMS accelerometers is proposed with the advantages of the self-organizing network, low latency, low power consumption according to the concept of Internet of Things, and a distributed cable monitoring method is described. Then, a diagnosis method based on the time-frequency characteristic parameters is exemplified.
