Abstract

Polyurethane foams (PUFs) are arguably the most significant family of polymeric foams because of their low density, low thermal conductivity, and intriguing mechanical characteristics that make them great thermal and acoustic insulators in addition to structural and comfort substances. This book chapter summarizes the developments and breakthroughs in PUF processing methods and demonstrates how they can be used as packaging, insulating, and fireproofing materials in various industries. Also included in the target audience for this chapter are academics, students, and others who work in research and innovation, manufacturing, processing, screening, advertising, sales, and foam application. PUF production is still heavily dependent on petroleum despite the wide range of applications, thus this business must adapt to ever stricter laws and demanding customers.
