Abstract

Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures are adequate substitutes for some foams because of the high ratio of their mechanical properties and weights; furthermore, they allow the possibility of tailoring final structures. The internal space of TPMSs can be filled with low-density foam to enhance the mechanical properties and energy absorption capabilities of these structures. This study focused on the comparative analysis of non-hybrid and hybrid TPMSs. The specimens were tested under compression quasi-static loads, and their mechanical properties, capability to absorb energy per unit weight and per unit volume, ideality, efficiency, total efficiency, weight, and failure mechanisms were analyzed.
