Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Sheets for Improved Photocatalytic Performance

Abstract

In this study, we present an efficient and straightforward approach to synthesize zinc oxide sheets (ZN-S) from readily available raw materials. Through comprehensive spectroscopic/microscopic analyses, the characteristics of the synthesized ZN-S photocatalysts were thoroughly examined. Their photocatalytic efficiency was evaluated by monitoring the decomposition of the methylene blue dye under UV light exposure. The experiments revealed that ZN-S demonstrates a particularly enhanced photocatalytic activity, likely due to its small band gap energy and the efficient separation of charge carriers. This research introduces a feasible method for producing ZN-S through a simple process, offering a scalable solution for various applications.
