Abstract

, and an integron-associated promoter, Pc, is the last feature. Among them, the class 1 integron is a major player in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes across pathogens and commensals. Various classes of integrons possessing a wide variety of gene cassettes are distributed in bacteria throughout the world. This review thus focuses on the distribution of integrons among important bacteria.
