Abstract

In the Nikkei Forum 28th Future of Asia held on May 25–26, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said Vietnam will stick to the 6.5% GDP growth target despite the slowdown of global economic growth.1 Vietnam has experienced a rapid economic growth since the economic reform in 1986. Along with the economic growth, the health of the Vietnamese people has significantly improved between 1990 and 2020, whereby the life expectancy grew from 69 to 75 years, and the under-five child mortality rate decreased from 30 to 21 per 1000 live births.
