Inhibition of aluminum‐silicon alloy dust explosion and flame by<scp>KH<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub></scp>/montmorillonite composite powder

Abstract
Summary To obtain a good explosive suppressant, KH 2 PO 4 /montmorillonite composite powder was prepared by the solvent‐antisolvent method by using montmorillonite as the carrier and KH 2 PO 4 as the supported particles. Flame propagation inhibition and explosion inhibition of aluminum‐silicon alloy dust by the KH 2 PO 4 /montmorillonite composite powder were investigated in a vertical quartz glass combustion tube and 20‐L spherical explosive tank, respectively. The results showed that the flame propagation of aluminum‐silicon alloy dust was basically suppressed as the inerting ratio of KH 2 PO 4 /montmorillonite composite powder was 1.2, and the explosion of aluminum‐silicon alloy dust was basically inhibited as the inerting ratio of KH 2 PO 4 /montmorillonite composite powder was 1.8. The flame and explosion inhibition mechanism of KH 2 PO 4 /montmorillonite composite powder on aluminum‐silicon alloy dust was further analyzed in this paper.
