Temperature vacuum swing, a combined adsorption cycle for carbon capture
Mohsen Gholami, Tom RC Van Assche, Joeri Denayer
Abstract
Since its development in the early 20th century, the adsorptive separation process has evolved tremendously in terms of both adsorbent and process. Particular development is the hybrid temperature vacuum swing adsorption (TVSA) process. This review addresses the current and potential applications of this technology for carbon capture and explores the details of cycle steps and sequences, the heating methods, and the bed configurations. It clarifies the TVSA benefits and pitfalls that are critical for decision-making in technology development.
