Abstract
It is already known that, Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a self-organizing architecture of wireless network, where each communicating node will act as a router. Unlike the infrastructure based networks, MANETS poses an infrastructure less networks, Limited battery, dynamic topology, limited bandwidth, multi hop routing characteristics. These unique features of MANET make the routing mechanisms to be more difficult. Routing protocols in MANET assumes a trusted environment. But nearly every protocols are vulnerable to malicious attacks that aim at or exploit the routing protocols. An attacker node can influence the network traffic, construct messages; insert themselves in the trail between the source and destination thereby controlling the flow of network traffic. Mitigating such type of attacks plays crucial role in MANET as it abruptly corrupts the network performance. In this paper the mitigation of various malicious attacks such as black hole in single, worm hole, collaborative black hole, Grey hole, Sybil, Sinkhole, Rushing attacks have been reviewed.
