Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) plays a significant role in the development of new technology to monitor and control remote system. However, the monitoring system needs to operate round-the-clock and it is not power efficient. Long Range (LoRa) helps to reduce power consumption in the device and strengthen the signal between sensors to the gateway. This paper presents the implementation of real-time environmental monitoring based on LoRa Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) system. LoRaWAN uses Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol to send the data to the MQTT server which is The Things Network (TTN). The real-time monitoring system uses Node RED to efficiently display the information on the web-based dashboard. Node RED is easy to operate and communicate between the dashboard and TTN server. Furthermore, the real-time data are easily validated using the TTN capabilities. This real-time monitoring system allows user to monitor the data efficiently and organize the dashboard according to the user preferences.
