Abstract

Change in agricultural practices is crucial for reaching the Net Zero 2050 target. For this purpose, Digital Twin (DT) technology and IoT technology started to be used. These solutions’ success relies on the performance of the communication between the IoT devices and the DT. However, the current solutions embody scalability, context awareness, and interoperability challenges. To address these, we propose YANG-powered DT Middleware. Moreover, considering the intrinsic characteristics of DT communication, we propose the DT-specific aggregation scheme. As a result, we decrease the latency and round-trip time (RTT) and lower the resource consumption in IoT devices. Moreover, context-aware communication in DT-based Farming is enabled.
