Abstract
The search for greener IoT solutions is increasing exponentially. Although many solutions exist for ambient energy backscatter, zero-power systems are always limited by data processing power consumption. So, there is a need to research ways to have zero-power data processing. A solution is to use ambient signals to process the data. The reed switch is a passive device that can be used as a 1-bit data processing module. So, this paper proposes designing a SWIPT system that uses a reed switch as a modulator to backscatter a signal. The results of this paper show that the proposed work can have real applications if there is a passive magnetic field source. Furthermore, this paper used the designed SWIPT system to measure the velocity of a fan. This experiment proves that it is possible to measure, for example, the velocity of wind passively, in other words, with zero-power IoT.
