Abstract

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has been regarded as one of the most promising technologies in the upcoming 6G communication system, for its ability to enhance the coverage and communication quality by regulating the phase of the reflected signal. In this paper, we measure and analyze the path loss of the RIS-assisted communication system in corridors using vector network analyzer (VNA). The RIS is configured for specular reflection and intelligent reflection respectively. We modify the floating-intercept (FI) and close-in (CI) models to be applicable for the RIS-assisted channel. The path loss and shadow fading of the channel are analyzed by using the modified models. Comparing the two RIS configurations, the path loss exponent is larger for intelligent reflection while the shadow fading deviation is larger for specular reflection.
