Abstract
With an ever-increasing population in all over the globe, continuing manufacturing of cars of all different types by manufacturers, and an ever-increasing number of vehicles on the roads, the number of automobiles on the roads will only continue to increase. This inevitably increases traffic congestion, which is particularly problematic in big urban areas and at the busiest times of the day (rush hour). Because of this occurrence, municipal authorities, and urban planners are under continual pressure to find new methods to make traffic control systems that are both safer and more cost-effective. The Decision Support System is a novel approach that was developed to resolve this problem (DSS). The purpose of this article is to investigate and contrast two distinct approaches to the management of traffic, namely Traffic Management Systems (TMS) and Decision Support Systems (DSS), using the Internet of Things (IoT) as our primary research tool.
