Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects 10% of the global population, with an estimated total of 850 million population with underlying CKD1. According to the report of Global Kidney Atlas by Bello et al, CKD detection programmes are in place in 6% of low income countries and 32% of high income countries2. Burden of CKD is much more in Low Income Countries(LICs), Low Middle Income Countries(LMICs), which stands as a major challenge to health care systems. Balancing the budget allocation for treatment of end stage renal disease versus the prevention of kidney failure is a formidable challenge in LMICs.
