Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotic technologies have been applied in healthcare sectors for many years. Along with the ageing trend rising globally, the use of AI and intelligent service robots in home care for elderly or disabled bedridden people has generated considerable attention. A robot that can physically assist care-workers and the elderly or disabled bedridden people in daily activities may help ease care-workers' burden and help older people live independently for longer with higher quality of life. This survey gives a comprehensive overview in the latest AI and robotic technologies applications in elderly care, providing a detailed analysis on the current products in the market, and discusses the problems and the future trend in this topic.
