Abstract
COVID-19 is an emerging pandemic infecting more than 11 million people and leading to more than 544,722 deaths worldwide at the time of writing this report. Despite the widespread and highly contagious nature of COVID-19, the current diagnostic tests used to identify the infected patients lack sensitivity. A recent study demonstrated that sensitivity of COVID-19 tests can be as low as 59% by RT-PCR (Ai et al., 2020). Moreover, in patients with negative RT-PCRs, 75% had positive chest CT scans The high rates of discordant test results and potential for false negatives in COVID-19 sometimes make it difficult for healthcare providers to identify individuals appropriately for treatment and quarantine.
