Abstract

Recent studies have focused on the development of photovoltaic technology to obtain cells with greater yield and higher efficiency. Bifacial solar cells are one of a series of modern technologies that have contributed to increase the efficiency and productivity of solar cells. This paper provides information on development of solar panels manufacturing. A comprehensive comparison was also made between different types of batteries (Lithium-ion, LED-acid, flow batteries) in terms of storage capacity, maximum cycle, energy density, maximum power rating, and efficiency. A power generation system for telecom application is studied. The system consists of bifacial solar panels, an energy storage battery, and a charge controller. The flower pollination algorithm FPA was used to adjust the parameters of the charge controller used to control the energy generated by the solar panels. The proposed algorithm gave the best results, and reached the minimum value of the cost function within 24 iterations, superior to other previously used artificial intelligence algorithms. The energy generated from the panels is optimized through the appropriate tuning of the charge controller.
