Abstract
As a typical two-dimensional transition metal sulfide, vanadium disulfide (VS2) is a rising star. Due to its unique layered structure and metal conductivity, VS2 can be used in applications for electrochemical energy storage. On the basis of analyzing the fundamental characteristics and synthesis approaches, we gain insight into energy storage mechanisms from a perspective of single and multielectron storage in batteries. Finally, the main challenges, opportunities, and the practical application prospects of VS2 are presented.
