Abstract

Sonocatalysis, a vibration-induced chemical reaction, has shown great potential for catalytic applications. This study used a water bath method to prepare BiOI/BaNbO3 composites with various mass ratios. Under the influence of sonocatalysis, the BI/B-0.5 catalyst could degrade tetracycline hydrochloride up to 96.5 % after 20 min, and the stability was good. In comparison to pure BiOI and BaNbO3, the reaction rate constants of the BiOI/BaNbO3 catalyst were found to be 7.2 and 13.7 times higher, respectively. Furthermore, we systematically investigated the sonocatalytic degradation effect of BiOI/BaNbO3 on HTC under various conditions. Finally, we propose a possible mechanism for the sonocatalytic degradation of HTC by the BiOI/BaNbO3 composite catalyst. Our results underscore the superior degradation efficiency achieved by the BiOI/BaNbO3 catalyst, demonstrating its potential for efficient removal of organic pollutants.
