Abstract
This paper describes Flash, a technique for addressing two challenges in incremental network data plane verification -update storms and long-tail arrivals. Update storms refer to the arrival of a large number of updates in a short period of time. The authors report that existing verification techniques can require significant amounts of time (tens of minutes to hours) to complete verification under update storms. Long-tail arrivals refer to situations where updates from the network are delivered after a long delay. In such cases, the data plane model computed by the verifier may be inconsistent or incomplete, possibly resulting in delayed or incorrect verification results.
