Abstract
The Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) enables two vehicles to communicate with each other on the road by forming a particular network. The purpose for the vehicle to communicate is to alert other road users about the condition of the road and the traffic situation. Another purpose is for entertainment where they can share files and connected to the Internet. When the number of vehicles on the road increase, a channel congestion may occur. When congestion occurs, message dissemination in the network become inefficient. Thus, VANET needs to deploy congestion control method to control the congestion for a reliable message dissemination. In this paper, several recent works and method created to combat network congestion control for VANET were surveyed and the congestion control is then classified into CSMA/CA-based and DCC-based.
