Competitors Analytical Tool using Game Theory and Big Data Analysis

Abstract

Inline to any fundamental analysis, which builds up the strategic plan of a firm or the state of the industry competitors, the competitor analytical tool mostly uses intricate calculations and data mining to produce insights that can be put into practice. Since the COVID pandemic’s lockdown, Indians have trusted on the Internet for transactions, entertainment, and personal utilities. The most popular among these has been the Over-the-top (OTT) entertainment. There are about 40 OTT brands in India that provide the media content via the internet. Since the fourth quarter of 2021, Disney-Hotstar and Amazon Prime video have competed with Netflix in terms of popularity. Thus, this study renders the top two competitors viz. Amazon Prime video and Disney-Hotstar. The identified seven influencing factors for the competitive analysis study of these two top players are based on the scope of the Indian subcontinent. This research study is based on the method of data analytics in order to construct a two-person game theory model. The responses obtained from the survey of these two OTT platforms’ customers, reveals the initial trends for the identified strategies. The payoff values are determined by a novel regression analysis concept. The outcomes of this game theory model may be able to assist these two players in optimizing their strategy against their nearest competitor. This study can also serve a base for the other OTT service providers to optimize their business strategies. The research study also provides a solution for the scalability issues in terms of Big Data analytics.
