Abstract
targeted survey, it was common for lactating examinees to report using test time to express breast milk or to experience physical symptoms. We propose that ABMS member boards have (1) an official lactation-specific examination accommodations policy, (2) policies readily available on ABMS member websites, (3) accommodation-request deadlines as close to the examination date as feasible, (4) accommodations for additional break time and frequency of breaks that meet the needs of examinees, and (5) guaranteed private space. Physicians should not be required to provide medical documentation that they are lactating.
