Abstract

Abstract A new version of the Exponentiated Burr X (EBX) distribution was introduced and studied in this paper. The method of Nadarajah and Kotz (2006) that was based on Gupta et al., (1998) proposition was used. Mathematical and statistical properties of the EBX distribution such as the limit behaviour, quantile function, moments, moment generating function, entropy and order statistics were explicitly derived. Further, the maximum likelihood estimators of the model parameters were obtained. These estimators were employed in a simulation study using varying sample sizes and true parameter values to assess the performance of this distribution. Application to real data set shows that the EBX distribution has a good model fitting capacity using several selection statistical criteria
