Abstract
The first observation of the suppressed semileptonic ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}$ decay is reported. Using a data sample recorded in $pp$ collisions in 2012 with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $2\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$, the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}({B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}})$ is measured to be $[1.06\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.08(\mathrm{syst})]\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one represents the combined systematic uncertainties. The decay ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}$, where ${D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ is reconstructed in the final state ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, is used as a normalization channel to minimize the experimental systematic uncertainty. Theoretical calculations on the form factors of the ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ transitions are employed to determine the ratio of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements $|{V}_{ub}|/|{V}_{cb}|$ at low and high ${B}_{s}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ momentum transfer.
