Electric Field Measurement in Dielectric Barrier Discharges Using Electric Field Induced Second Harmonic Generation in Ambient Air

Abstract

In this paper, we performed electric field measurements in a nanosecond DBD breakdown in ambient air using the electric field induced second harmonic generation technique, with a temporal resolution of approximate 5 ns. The measurements are in a diffuse plasma, and the emission intensity of the plasma is captured using an ICCD camera. Results including the non-zero electric field offset before the breakdown and the electric field during the breakdown, are obtained. The influence of the voltage amplitude is also investigated.
