Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the process of resolution of Muhammadiyah waqf land conflicts in Singkarak, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The research method used was narrative qualitative by conducting ethnographic research approaches. The data obtained through interviews with village leaders and traditional leaders and Muhammadiyah officials who understand the problem under study, direct field observations and documentation obtained through photographs, meeting notes, decree letters. The data collected were critically analyzed and then narrated based on the research objectives. The results showed that the conflict of the Muhammadiyah waqf land in Singkarak, West Sumatra, Indonesia started from a series of uses of buildings belonging to the Muhammadiyah by the village, then because it was too long, so that the village unilaterally brought down the buildings belonging to Muhammadiyah. This problem should be resolved according to rules of tradition and laws in West Sumatra that uphold the values of deliberation and consensus
